Hi there. I’m around and I’m alive. And it’s already near the midpoint of 2018.
I’m so so sorry it has been a while since I’ve posted and evidently, I’m full of the general bullshit excuses: too busy, no time, too much work and life and being married and a MoM, etc etc. I usually try to keep the work life balance, and in between make time for the blog, but I’m just going to be honest and let you know that I’ve been experiencing quite a bit of writer’s block for the past while.
Mind you, I usually brainstorm all my ideas in a notebook full of random thoughts. So you can imagine how much I try to bring the ideas together to provide decent content. Really though, how can I write about my ideas without sounding like my super old livejournal blogs?? (ie. This was my day, and this happened and this happened and so forth) Haha! Good times). Also, life with the boys now growing have been quite routine, and frankly quite boring. As much as I love the routine and that it’s the best for our little family, I didn’t want the blog to feel so meh…if you know what I mean.
Anyhow, not only have I been experiencing writer’s block, but also photo and layout block, if those are such things. I know most of my content have been from waaaayy past events and alongside those past events come grainy unedited photos from my old phone or from an old Canon ELPH camera. So I’m working on how to better the layout and take quality photos on my Google Pixel, and hopefully down the road, invest in a decent DSLR or similar. Also invest in a photo editing program. If anyone can suggest how to go by this, without telling me to get a MacBook or MacBookPro, that would be extremely helpful 🙂
On the tech side, I’ve also been going through tech block. Which I mean, I am still using an old Sony VAIO laptop from 2011 to post, and it takes forever to load things especially with a fan so loud. Which also affected my lack of blogging. Though, for work and study purposes, I recently purchased a refurbished ASUS 15″ touch laptop from a computer shop down the street from me. I had the guy over there replace the hard drive with an SSD card and upgrade it from a 4 GB to and 8GB, add a graphics card, virus protection, Windows 10, Office, etc. With the SSD, the computer is legit fast! And if the computer breaks down, all files can be restored (trust me, I’ve had a motherboard HD destroyed on my desktop simply by moving it, I lost everything! You want an SSD). I’m no techie, but I learned so much from the computer guy. The ASUS also had a CD/DVD Drive in it (hello ancient!) and he gave me the option to replace the spot with an external hard drive for added built in storage, and of course I did go for it. So all in all, I spent $600 ish for what would have been a laptop that would have cost twice to three times as much. With that all being said, going back to the VAIO I’m currently typing this blog on, I may just take this VAIO to the computer guy and have him do all the upgrades, etc. I mean, this laptop still has great bones, just needs a little cleanup. Anyway enough computer talk. It just excited me that I saved so much money doing so instead of buying a completely new, out-of-budget piece of technology that would depreciate so quickly.
So that’s it for now. Glad to have you still with me on this ride. I will try to post more content. I’m excited for summer 🙂
X-Joan
